Where did the sadness go? - on transformation of energies

For me, Silence has been transformative. Much healing has arisen from daily time in the Quiet, prayerfully, over the last many years. Simply resting in Silence, receptive to the Divine, has a powerful capacity to bring healing through the arising of heavenly Love. In the Silence I am able more deeply to connect with the Sacred, the Spirit of Christ. Silence is healing, for this Silence is the expression of Grace. In Silence, no part of my life is left out, all is included in the embrace of the Light. The Light welcomes everything unconditionally, and in this embrace Wholeness works in subtle ways that are evidenced later, for I can never fathom the deep, mysterious movements of this eternal Life.

And when we speak of spiritual transformation, this spiritual includes the body and mind, as well as the entire social life, that is, how one lives among and with others. We cannot rightly exclude any part of life from Grace. It all matters, for it all belongs. Grace never withholds, our role is simply to respond to that Grace.

Likewise, this transformation is not a loss of anything. The energy given to sadness, to anger, to jealously, is the same energy given to happiness, to patience, to compassion. Transformation frees up life energy for being blessed and blessing, trans-form-ing takes place naturally.

Jesus is attributed, in the Gospel, with teaching something vital to this way of healing, of transformation, by nonaggression.

When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, "I will return to the house I left." When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.

The sadness accompanying me those many years was a sadness that belonged, it needed to be present, and it needed, not being driven out, but welcomed, befriended and, thereby, exposed to the gracefulness of Grace. Simply driving away a feeling and cleaning the house, so to speak, is not transformation. In the terms of the time of Jesus, the demon has within itself the angel, and when a demon is transformed, what remains is an angel. Today, for living with the sadness, I am more joyful, I can love more, I can better be with others who are living with emotional states that await the full healing of Grace in the harmony.
